Happy 3rd Heavenly Birthday my sweet girl.
Wow – you’re getting so big, mommy can hardly believe it! I see how you are jumping and running and painting and playing. I also see how you fly through the sky, painting it lovely shades of pink. Flying like a bird, a butterfly, a fairy…
I loved going shopping with you this week leading up to today – all the wonderful presents we bought. For The Grace Factory you chose some babygrows, blankets and socks. Photos and keyrings for the boys. A plaque for your aunty Becca (she cried a little but I told her you would want her to be happy!) A pink jersey, a bird pendant and necklace and some gorgeous earrings for me. And a locket for your daddy (he has no idea where to keep it – give him some ideas please!)
Yesterday mommy went to visit with aunty Elsabé and she gave me the most beautiful scroll with a verse on. Isaiah 61:3 says: “provide for those who grieve in Zion – to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair. They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the Lord for the display of His splendor.”(NIV) For the crown of beauty she gave me a rose bush and a silk flower crown. The rose bush has the most beautiful pink roses and smells divine! The crown of beauty is to encourage me to think of the good and beautiful. For the oil of joy she gave me strawberry essential oil. Like the oil has a fragrance, my life must exude a fragrance of joy. And for the garment of praise she gave me a soft, multi-coloured scarf that I can wrap around myself like a hug.
The part of the verse that caught my eye though was about the oak tree. Daddy and I wanted to celebrate your new life by buying a tree and we could not decide which type. And there in the verse was God’s answer – an oak tree. We bought one today and we’ll plant it in the garden where we used to have picnics and it will grow and give shade to us so we can have even more picnics.
Mommy has also been working on your beads of bravery for the past few weeks and daddy helped me finish it tonight. I am so proud of you and what you achieved while you were on this earth but I am even more proud of the legacy you have left behind with us. You amaze me my little girl!
And in my amazement I am drawn to all the colours around me – to the fact that spring is here. All the trees have new leaves and new life. Flowers are blooming, birds are laying eggs, life is fresh and new and precious.
And so is your life. You are and always will be a breath of fresh air – flying on the wind, loving your new life and being as precious as you were when I held you in my arms here on earth.
I love you forever,
